The only guitar music I don't listen to or play is heavy rock and the worse type for me is shreading, BB king can do more and touch your soul with one note, who rated Peter Green highly.

Hold on a minute, you’ve forgotten the very best British blues guitarist bar none in the late, great Peter Green. If he were still with us WBA53 would be on your case about this

How right you are!!! I was thinking that I'd forgotten loads of players like Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, Roy Buchannon, Chris Rea, Dave Gilmour, Robert Cray, Matt Bellamy or Stanley Jordan but how could I forget Greeny?? ....I hang my head in shame. To me, and many others, his tone is better than Claptons and probably the best British electric Blues guitar player ever.

Don't have to be a virtuoso solo player to be influential though and many famous classic bands would not enjoy the reputations they do without the input of their guitar players-think George Harrison, Keef, Pete Townsend or Roger McGuinn. Multi instrumentalists like Prince and Paul McCartney were no slouches on guitar either!
