That's the worst thing about having loanees in your team,especially if they are an integral part of it, and are playing very well. Even if the lad loves it here (and seemingly he does) and wanted a move, the fact that he might be up for sale is then common knowledge to other clubs and scouts, some who are probably keeping an eye on him already.

It's not the first time United have openly showed interest in a player only to be gazumped by another club with more dosh.

I was only alluding to the fact that we wouldn't have to stump up a big transfer fee, but yeah you're more than likely right though. Financially we can't compete with the likes of Cardiff and others but I retain some hope that he might actually enjoy playing here and money can always come later for a lad of his age and talent.
