If you looking at new broadband, don't forget cashback sites like quidco and topcashback. Whilst not guaranteed the cashback will bring down overall cost and some include vouchers too.

A few years ago I used to know t
someone who worked for virgin media…if you go through to the retentions team they used to give you almost anything and everything to keep you..they had a list of resolutions to go down through and if you held out you would get a good deal…

I would just say to any provider now due to cost of living I am having to do away with it all…..see what they say..

If you want to test it, sign up to another provider, then during set up they will contact your current provider to let then know you are swapping. Your current provider will then call you to see if you are moving and if they can offer you a better deal to stay. You have right to cancel cooling off period from the new provider think it's 7 to 14 days, just make sure you cancel within the cooling off period for free.

And, having been the team leader in the retentions team long before it was Virgin Media, my response would have been if you can't afford it that's your problem, not ours. Can you close the door on your way out.

If someone wanted compensation for a genuine issue, they would get it, I would authorise it, but you get a feel for the non genuine ones, if you have anything about you.

I'm with Virgin and do this every 12-18 months. They are more and more playing hardball but you have to hold out having given them notice of disconnection. I was within 2 weeks of the date they were going to disconnect me when they called and offered me £17 pm for 100gb. Don't need phone as just use mobile. Couldn't get better than that elsewhere.

You do have to go through the same dance every time though but save a lot of money by it

BT now own ee. BT now sent me a hybrid connect box.
quite good once you set it up , it automatically keeps you online if your broadband goes down. just pulled the plug on my router, and the ee box kicked in

Keeps my old brain on the go.
