I think the Open Letter helped the situation. Saying nothing would not help those who have to make decisions about our club. IMO the sort of opinions expressed by the Open Letter writers would be either a surprise or a confirmation of what a section of the support were thinking. Either way it should have helped the people who have responsibility for making choices about the direction our club should take.
If you get an open response to an open letter then that should be a sign that open talks are the way forward.
Completely agree about Dayster's comment about not getting a response to correspondence. It's maybe very old school but I think an acknowledgement and an explanation that the comments were noted should be the minimum acceptable response. Maybe communications can't be kept private any more and so public comment is the only way forward.
To the dogs - agree. Open Letter Group did improve the situation temporarily by way of getting lip service from JN over the course of a few weeks. The whole situation has become tedious and a complete borefest. Pretty close to binning my season ticket, Trust membership and Supporters Club sub’s. Can then just toddle along when I feel like it. Many of us need something or somebody to believe in. Who or what that is I’ve no idea, doesn’t seem obvious at the moment.
This is serious stuff coming from you scottg. Was thinking that the appointment of Gordon Strachan was a step in the right direction and the early decision about Mark McGhee and Rusk was also the right move. If Gordon Strachan is simply being used as a lightening conductor to neutralise flak that had been correctly directed at the previous decisions by John Nelms regarding managers then I will be surprised and very disappointed.
I thought we were moving in the right direction and have been looking forward to a new manager appointment with a new look backroom to support him.
As a Dee4lfe member, thought we were getting somewhere at last with Nelms, now it seems no progress at all.
I have been going to Dens since my father took me when Billy Steel was playing, my son was with Dundee, my grandson with the academy,
My wife worked at Dens, now the whole family is scunnered, including me.
I despair, still waiting on a manager.
No one from any of the three fans groups who post on here able to offer any glimmer of hope or encouragement that some of the well documented and flogged to death problems at our club are going to get any better ?
