Something that I have noticed, living in Switzerland, is that the British media make a crisis out of everything. They are doom and gloom merchants - like vultures, delighting in shadenfreude.

I am not suggesting that the financial position is not a problem and that the new manager will not have a rebuilding job to do.

However, I prefer to wait and see what the reality is and how ALK deal with the situation. Debt can always be rescheduled and/or refinanced. No one in the press has any knowledge of the discussions and options that are available.

This great club of ours has been around for 140 years. Even in League 1 the faithful will still be at the Turf come rain or shine.

We have to be realistic too. Yes, great kudos and money in the PL, but competing against clubs that have £200 million to spend (Chelsea) or can pay Tarks £120k per week? We can never hope to do that.

Here’s to 2022/23 where I hope we see some thrilling, attacking play from the Clarets in the true tradition of the club - not 37% possession defending all the time.

And for those criticising Pace for not cashing in on Tarks, I know that he wanted to sell. Dyche did not. Dyche won the day. So thanks to Saint Sean. How much has that cost us?

£20 million less the sell-on to the Bees who ultimately relegated us. Makes you wonder?

Strange that, Dyche wanted funds released to buy players, both Garlic and ALK told him to get back in his box and concentrate on his coaching job, they decide who goes and who stays. Yet when Tarko wants away, Dyche gets his own way on that ? Really ?

Without looking back on threads sinkov, I'm certain me and thee both said we should have taken the money and run.

Still no idea why we did not cash in on Tarkowski, perhaps it was the sell-on fee diminishing our return. Kevin Long sat on his arse for 18 months and he has always looked better than half decent to me. Makes no sense does it?

Neither does 90% of what we do make any sense to me either!

I'm sure we both did mon ami, I think the concensus on here was that it's not a good idea to keep players who want away, let them go and use the funds to buy a replacement.

In fairness to Tarkowski though sinkov, he never failed to give us anything less than 100%. I suppose a huge signing on fee and tripling his wages might have had something to do with him not chucking the toys out of the pram.

I am not sure that Pace told him to “get back in his box”. I was told that he did not want to upset Dyche so early in the relationship by insisting on selling. All history now!

Fair enough Swiss, just seems odd to me. Dyche was happy to take a relegation from the PL rather than stretch the finances after our first promotion, now he's accused of costing the club £30/40 million by insisting Tarko walks for nothing. I can imagine if Pace asked him he would say he preferred to keep him, no manager would want to lose a player of Tarko's ability when you're fighting relegation. I cannot believe that Dyche would have insisted on keeping Tarko if he had been aware of the financial implications should we go down.

To be fair on that point Sinkov Dyche did put his foot down and say - he’s a Burnley player and he won’t be leaving while he was manager - one of the points he did get a little angry about when pushed.
Obviously we don’t know but I’d guess they said sell and get 20/30 million and Sean said no - it could be another part of a reason why Dyche had to go at the end.
