I've been a bit of a fool, I must admit.

I never realised that as a footballer if you stand on the pitch and point both fingers skyward you end up having a storming game.

Also strangely enough, when a player misses a sitter he is never shown looking up and shaking his fist ✊😆 UTM

Or those that cross themselves twice because they think it’s double the effect of doing it once.

You even get those that do it so many times they end up looking like a race course tic tac man having an epileptic fit.

Yes Grist there are plenty of players who look to thank the good lord on matchday, but for most of them it's just a sham I would imagine. UTM

Absolutely, I was beginning to despair that nobody had picked up on it.

Would argue against that its a right wing reaction though, that would make " woke" stuff left wing which it certainly isn't. It's more of a general disease across all political stances

Can you articulate what "woke" actually is?

I'm sure that there is a reaction in there just as there was reaction to pretty much every progression, or probably better to use the word 'change' as I'm sure not all changes are progressive. I think what I see though is that just as there are sometimes quite extreme perspectives pushing their progressive agenda, who can quite blinkered and closed to counter opinion, the same is true on the other polemic with quite many regurgitating right wing reactions (backed up with all those lovely facebook pages you subscribe to)to what are often quite insignificant events (students and lone lefties) and whipping them up into headline hysteria and as a result you get very much the same kind of comments appearing with little adaptation on message boards. Instead surely we should be capable of looking at the pros and cons of different events and 'progressive' ideas and actually weighing them up in our own opinion? The never ending use of the word 'sheep/sheeple, often accompanied by the directive "Wake up!"' is a case in point: language developed and used by polemic media that leads to constant repitition and regurgitation by people behaving in exactly the same way that they are accusing others of behaving! It certainly doesn't seem to indicate a whole lot of critical thinking is going on!

And yes the extreme left is just as bad, just thought I'd emphasise that!

The thing is the sort of "wokeness" people talk about on here is now the new zeitgeist, its not easily going to go away whether anyone likes it or not. Personally I see at as progressive and an advancement to human society. Equality in the world in the end makes the world a better place for us all to live in. Some people may kick and scream against it but its here to stay. Embrace it even for selfish reasons. Some "woke" group might fight your corner one day
