Nobby Solano great signing by Kenny Dalglish.
The money paid for Burn, Trippier and the loan fee for Target. They instantly improved our defence and helped us stay up.
Surely the comparison here is the relationship between how much the player cost and how good he was - not the difference between his purchase and sale price.
The latter is the profit made by the club (too many of Ashley’s children on here 😄😆 !)
My shout would be Rob Lee.
Best £ for £ for me, still has to be Cabaye.
The low cost, the big sell on and the achievements we got with him in the middle of hte park - yes I know nothing special but for us at the time. . .
agreed with Cabaye - bought him for like 4mills (change money nowadays), although quite few from that team would worth mentioning - apart from the ones already named - Jonas Guttierez. Didn't liked him at first, but he made it here. Noteworthy tht even after that 5th place team colapsed he still produced remarkable performances.
Hope Bruno will make history in bw, but if half a season is something to go by - Cisse is hands down champion in that contest, scored what, 15? Unbelievable
Gary Speed.
I was pretty unimpressed when we signed him as I always thought of him as a bit of a donkey compared to David Ginola, who we had flogged to Spuds the previous season.
Proved I know sod all about football!
A great servant to the club over more than 200 games and a tragic end.
I have to agree with you Kem about Speedo. Strangely enough like you I never rated him when he was at Leeds and wondered why we bought him, but when you watched him for the Toon he really grows on you. One of the finest all-round players we have ever had and a top bloke as well.
His passing away and the reasons for it, which must have been haunting for the lad were a true tragedy.![]()
Barry venison, John Beresford and Paul Bracewell.
Brought in by keegan for a combined total of @ £1m
Totally transformed a team almost relegated to the 3rd division into a team that almost conquered the Premier league.
Killer Kilcline,Keegan bought him to steady the defence and he did just that.
