I said to the title thread what else needs strengthening - defensive midfield. Then I said please god let them buy A defensive midfielder as we've needed one for years. I never said play a defensive midfield with 2 midfielders. God this site is infuriating, people don't actually read posts.

Maybe you're the one who should read posts carefully (i.e. Jacob's above). I hope recruitment is similar to last season, not scattergun but targeted to strengthen the first team. That's why it's important to get the main midfield recruit right. We have Palmer so what type of player do we need next to him? If we plopped an out-an-out defensive mid by his side, we'd be limiting ourselves IMO

Sorry I didn't realise you needed specifics but for your benefit then a defensive minded midfielder. I also think we should have them in there with Palmer but with the new guy to do alot of the leg work, stop the transitions from their midfield to attack and put his foot in with some physicality. Also someone who rousted the players sometimes and got in their ear. Hope that's better for you although it was pretty obvious what I meant but there you go. Also no one including myself endorses a scattergun approach. I suggest 4 players where we need additions and back up unless you don't think we do which in that case would be your opinion as I have mine. Now bore off please.

A non-league version of Gerrard would be asking for too much. Now, there was a player who covered every aspect of the CM role...

But have we seen midfield players in the NL who can do a bit of everything well?

Yeah let's collect right wing-backs, more than one would be helpful.
But who's going to play on the other side!? I don't think we can rely on Taylor and there is nobody else (everyone needs to forget about Chicksen as an attacking player).

Did I read that Miller is a free agent again? Would we want him back? I'd be 50/50

I do agree that the left hand side does look weak even with Chicksen and Taylor there.

I probably wouldn't. While he looked reasonably good going forward under IB, he never filled me with confidence defensively, and that area is somewhere we've got to improve upon this season.

I'm confident that the Bros could find someone just as good for much less money, but I also don't think left wingback is a priority for them either unless Chicksen turns down a new deal.
