Thread: Worse than Burch?

Bit of a daft thread. He's only just walked in the door.

As others have said, he has more experience in this country than Birchnall. He's been employed at some pretty decent clubs. I don't think you get an assistant head coach job at a club like Swansea if you don't know what you are doing.

Let's stop all this nonsense and get behind the man, for f's sake.

There is something strangely comforting reading a thread like this the day after the new head coach appointment.

Tbh it wouldn't be NCM without it#viva

This, I think some supporters are living in dreamland. Who do they expect us to get? It was either someone like this who has at least managed a team, is known as an up and coming coach who is apparently good at his job. He and his assistant have known this league and the ones above, they should know how to build a team with both skill and steel. Either him or Williamson who others wouldn't have been happy with as come from the league below. It's not taken powerhouse managers to get Sutton and Barrow top of the league and who's heard of Harrogates manager when they easily beat our proven manager in Ardley. Why, as Durham says, don't we give him a chance instead of making his job harder by pretty much already being on his back especially if things don't go to plan straight away. No wonder some managers don't want to come to Notts. The proof is in the pudding, not what it looks like.

    Indeed.

We've tried pretty much everything at Notts - big names like Nolan, experienced lower-league types like Sheridan, Notts old boys like Derry, whacky left-field ones like Moniz, and complete rookies like Kiwomya and Fullarton. None of it worked. Whether you agree with the bros approach or not, at least they have a clear strategy in place rather than lurching from one disaster to another.

They wanted a talented coach who plays football a certain way. They found a talented coach who plays football a certain way. Let's just get behind LW and the team and see what happens.

Agreed. I understand people want us to go up, I'm desperate for the same thing. The owners though want to try and run us as sustainably as possible. Whilst this might take longer to achieve our joint goals, it's nice to not have to worry about having a functioning club all the time. In the past as Slack says we've tried all types of managers and sometimes spent a lot on players as well. Most of the time all it got is was a downhill trajectory and not just that, the feeling that off the pitch, behind the scenes it's all a bit of a ****show. We've stopped the rot and as corporate as it sounds, the building blocks are in place to move up but this time when we do keep improving. I end every season we don't go in up in abject despair but when the next season starts I think this is going to be the one and I still hope that about next year. Anyone thinking of not renewing their ST in protest instead of cost of living or health then please rethink if possible.

This might not be the best way to get us up or it might be for the long term future for a club without big resources, who knows. We are an attractive loan option for teams higher up as we are trying to play the right way. I just hope LW is more dynamic with pace, power, height and steel added to what we already have. Wrexham and Chesterfield didn't go up, Stockport and Grimsby did. Solihull nearly did with our ex manager. We'll be in the mix again though I'm sure and let's hope this is our time. COYP.

This also encourages me about Ryan Harley :

Ryan’s got a very strong personality, which is perfect for this environment, and he will be able to do specific work on the training pitch extremely well.

I think we were missing someone to get after the players last season. Doyle always seemed very quiet to me which was slightly disappointing. You need someone to have some passion in there.

Agree with Durham, Slack and CFs sentiments above.

I most admit I was very surprised with how Doyle came across on the sidelines as opposed to how he was on the pitch. Surprised and disappointed as you can't have two good cops, and we all knew IB would play that role.

    Agree 100%
Now we have got a manager I am going to renew my season ticket today.
I was also pleased that the owners seem to have ambition.

As I said yesters, the appt left me a bit underwhelmed, but he's here now, so lets see what he's got. I think most would have been happy with a Williamson, Tisdale, Garrard appt, but twasn't to be, so lets crack on. Who knows, he might be the one?
