None at the moment, I think Connor King was the last one in goal. He didn't last long, injury saw him off, then he was back at Burnley in a coaching role. There is a vague connection, Lee Pugh is left-back, his brother Marc came through our Academy, possibly the last one to make a go off it in the League before Jay. I don't think Lee went through the Gawthorpe Black Hole though.

There were four young lads playing last night, I didn't know them, I don't know where they've come from, most likely the Clitheroe youth set up, if there are any Black Holers I'll let you know.

Whatever happened to John Connelly's grandson? I thought he might make it.

He seems a bit injury prone which has held up his progress, he was loaned out to Longridge for a spell last season, he was back late on in the season, but mainly used off the bench. He hasn't been in the squad for the first couple of games, I haven't heard that he's gone elsewhere so maybe he's on his jollies. We're playing Marine at Shawbridge on Sunday, if he's not there I'll ask around and find out what's happening with him.

Jake's gone to Lancaster BT. Good luck to him, he's gone up a level and couldn't have got off to better start, scoring against our chums from down the road.

"Lancaster City enjoyed a fine 2-1 win over a Blackburn Rovers Under-23s at Giant Axe on Friday night..........the match was brought to life after the break as both sides made changes, with ex-City loanee Aidan Dowling replacing Eastham between the sticks for Rovers. It would be City who broke the deadlock – the goal arriving five minutes after the restart, as Jake Connelly smartly rounded Dowling and slotted home."

    Good lad.

Word coming in from Portugal is that we had two games today against the Toon, we got tanked 3-1 and 5-1.

Wanderers played your opening game opponents Huddersfield today - or to be more accurate 6 or 7 of their team made up with squad players. They sent another team to beat League 2 Tranmere 4 - 1 this morning - mainly fringe players + Rhodes.
But... Anjorin is rested after playing for Chelsea on Wednesday, Nakayama still hasn't got international clearance, David Kasumu, Will Boyle and Aaron Rowe have all been ill this week so weren't risked - so it wasn't fully representative of what you'll be up against on Friday but it did provide some insights into the new manager's style.
Schofield has them playing a traditional 442 when out of possession but switches to 4141 when they have the ball - so basically they try to get players into the box asap when they have the ball.
They have a good press but equally can be hustled out of it if your own press is good.
They don't like playing teams like us who keep possession and try to attack all the time.
They are susceptible to quality balls through the lines, but can defend with their lives (last second blocks/clearances off the line etc)

The game itself was very open and very end to end - pretty much like every Bolton game since Evatt arrived - but we made them work until they took the lead on 45 + 4 with an excellent cross right on to Danny Ward's head.
We pressed them throughout the second half, and a combination of great defending, blocks, scuffed chances, hitting the post and overelaborate build ups kept us out until 90 + 3 when we equalised at the death.

As usual, our attacking style left gaps to exploit, but they couldn't take advantage and TBH I thought their strikers didn't really have that top notch quality to threaten if the defence is solid.

There will probably be 3 or 4 changes to the team on Friday when the 3 rested players + Anjorin come in and that may make them a different proposition, but from what we saw today I wouldn't be overly concerned.

I'm fairly confident you can kick off the season with 3 excellent away points if you're on your game.
