Look at our top we do live in an ideal world.
I didn't know he was not agreeing a new contract so sell if we get a good price of £4-5m now, as we cannot afford a c??? Johnston situation next summer.
He is to slow to play fullback and lacks height and strength as cb. He isn't bad in this div but he isn't a prem striker. With Kipre going though I doubt this will happen unless Bruce brings in some academy loan players from prem clubs.
Apparently-according to Lancs Live-Burnley have said they have not contacted us over O'shea and are not in the market for another CB? Tbh, I would prefer to keep Dara as his performances prior to injury certainly showed potential.
I notice Burnley have just signed Maatsen a centre half on a 12 month loan from Chelsea.
Maybe the end of the O’Shea rumours.
Great things are often said about O’Shea from within the club, often by his team mates.
The only time I thought he’d finally come of age was that period after relegation from the Prem and prior to injury. It was almost as though his experience in the Prem really taught him something which he then took in to the Champ, which of course would have been slightly easier to handle, and it showed.
Since his injury he seems to have returned to pre Prem, on the periphery of the squad and not first choice (obviously accounting for him still recovering from injury). I’m keen to see if that post Prem player within him makes a return but how long do we wait? If he stays this is a big year for him as beyond this I see patience among us all wearing thin.
At best he’s a covering Centre back, ie the big man goes in for headers and he tidies up around the back, challenging big forwards for high headers and playing full back often exposes his shortcomings.......... then again, I said a lot of the same things about Craig Dawson and look at him now!
I say keep him, but it’s a big year for him now.
Signed a new 3 year contract today which is good news
But the defender has now penned a new deal at the club and wants to repay the club for the work they have put into his development.
He said: “Albion has been my home for six years and I’m delighted that will be the case for at least another three.
“The club has supported me throughout my development, and I will do everything I can this season to repay their trust and belief.
“I’m excited about the new season and I cannot wait for us to get started. I know I’m not the only one. The lads have all worked tirelessly throughout pre-season and now we’re counting down the days for the new season to get underway.”
Well said 68.
So good to see a young player appreciating what the club has done for him for many years and repays that by signing a new contract.
Maybe Cleary and several others will rethink where they are and what the club has done for them getting them to this position.
He played schoolboy football league with St Kevin's BFC over here in North County Dublin....
A very and highly regarded football club over here....they don't just teach youngsters how to develop football skills....but their approach is more holistic, looking after your body and mind as well as food....he is highly regarded around the Irish scene and comes as no surprise that he should sign a new contract...he remains hungry for the game, in age when heads are too easily turned by "the show me the money" attitude.
Good on yeah Dar.....![]()
