That is why when I was a pupil at school scientists were known as ‘mad scientists’.
The recent hot weather was caused by an area of high pressure over Europe sucking up hot winds from North Africa.
These hot winds from Africa did not reach the U.K. until a small area of Low pressure moved eastwards across Northern France allowing the hot winds to spread from Northern France northwards into the U.K.
As usual the heatwave in the U.K. lasted two days followed by a thunderstorm
One of the BBC weather forecasters stated last Monday that the temperature the following day would reach as high as 42C (108F).
As usual this temperature never happened with the maximum temperature reported in the U.K.on Tuesday 19th July 2022 being 40.3C (104F). 4 degrees Fahrenheit is a huge amount when the temperature is that high and irresponsible weather forecasting is liable to encourage the Nanny State government’s throughout the U.K. to shut down everything just in case.
I can see the unions demanding that the U.K. government bring in a siesta period during the middle of day similar to what happens in Spain and North African countries.
