More enjoyable than the absolute s hite under Bruce last season! Hopefully I will be dazzled with talent and creativity this Saturday on my visit to Boro!
As for goal keeping - I agree but at least these girls come off their line more than Johnstone!
PS - have not seen any girl player blaming every f ucker on the pitch either like Bartley!
Great testament for girls sports though whatever the opinions and the record viewing of the match proves many millions are enjoying it!
I respectfully disagree, and that's from someone who agrees the Brucey Bounce was more of a tepid splat.
I'm hoping for better and some semblance of a gameplan from him this time around.
Onwards to glory Al', but you can keep the top level ladies game to yourself for at least another five years mate, possibly nearer ten.
If tonight's game was evidence of the cream rising to the top then I'm afraid I've no interest whatsoever in the grassroots stuff closer to it's bottom.
Ha ha - my expectations this season are higher too hence going on Saturday but hope I’m not disappointed. We all know the best team so hope Bruce does too!
Respect any opinion about girls football but personally think it’s way behind. That said - it’s great for girls sport and the viewing record on television last night proves millions are loving it!
As Blood says - if nobody likes it - switch off!
Are you going Saturday?
Well I'm sure you are well entertained by the Albion.
The technical ability has improved quite dramatically in the women's football....but been stifled from growth by the "Women's place is in the home" attitude....I think the progress has been spectacular in just a few years.
I think the male game has regressed.
But like others on here often say....they get just as much enjoyment out of non league football.
I think the skill sets are improving in the women's game....
I have a feeling that the women's game will be more popular than the men's in time.
If that's what you took from my post you've misunderstood it. I was not well entertained by last season's Albion but I hope for better this season. That said I'd have taken last season's Albion over the women's game every day of the week.
Yes there have been improvements in the women's game, but let's not pretend it's been a quantum leap because it hasn't. This is where it all falls down. People deciding something's better than it really is because it's different.
And it is different despite it being the same sport with the same rules. I think it's great they're getting more opportunities to expand the game and play to a higher level which they're more than entitled to. For my money a woman's place isn't at home. It's wherever she chooses it to be.
It just bores the pants off me as a spectacle as much as reading how tremendous it is when it quite patently isn't. If you favour women's football over their male counterparts that's entirely your prerogative. I don't, and that's about it really.
I wish I had your clarity of though Al.
I certainly wouldn’t like to be picking the team for Saturday as I think it is a tough call and as with all sport there are opponents and we hav3 to negate so many of their strengths as well. At the Riverside last season none of our defenders could live with Tavernier. It lead to Townsend being dropped afterwards as he was simply out of his depth.
When O’Shea came on a sub in the second half Tavernier changed wings and tormented O’Shea so much he must have wished he had waited another week at least before returning.
Yes Yokoslu is a great resigning but how fit is he?if not fit enough then he could easily get a hamstring or muscle injuries which will put him back. He isn’t the fastest over 20 yards as it is.remember how slowly Dike came back into the side and then we hardly saw him again. The season is a marathon not a sprint.
Great to have Swift and Wallace as certainties but after that I for one think he has some decisions to make, especially with midweek games filling very quickly.
I believe I heard that the England lionesses have started with the same team every match. If there is one statement that shows the difference between the intensity of the two sports then that is probably it.
