    Neil very cleverly insisted on a clause where any team in championship and probably above comes in for him he has permission to speak with them.he never has to go but he gets the choice

    clarkey, the main thing about that was surely it rang alarm bells for Sunderland as an almost 'give me a contract or I'm off' situation or they chose to ignore it and it's badly cost them.

    I am bewildered by criticism of Neil or anyone else moving on to secure their own and their families security. Back in the day can you imagine anyone working at Park Gate turning down a chance to double their wages with the offer of a job at Steelo's? "No sorry, I must stay loyal to PG". His mates would think he was a lunatic.

    Of course "money talks", but not just in football, in every walk of life. Our love for our football clubs often clouds out judgement and sense of reality.
