When his father died he responded not long after sounded to me how he felt showing what his loss meant to him. What he's said today didn't seem same to me. Only how I seen it.

I don't think that Mike Yarwood did him any favours

Yes the thread is about King Charles who is in mourning for his mother the Queen and addressing the nation

Why would you have no respect for the dead and the mourning?

How would you feel if people came out and said they hate your family and didn’t respect your families death?

I'm not going to pretend I think a system where the head of state is determined by who exits a specific uterus first is anything other than primitive and should be consigned to the dustbin of history and replaced with something merit-based.

However, while I don't respect the institution, on merit the Queen did an outstanding job and will forever have my respect and it is a sad chapter to close. However that should be the end of it - we should go out on a high.

God save the King, and Charles being that King, it just sounds and feels wrong. Everyone is free to feel how they like about being ruled, but I'll never consider myself his subject. He'll never be my king. No way in a million years should we be cancelling football matches when a multi-billionaire who has never done anything of note beyond being born privileged dies. It just costs hundreds of thousands of working people money in transport and accommodation costs.
i'am not a royalist but the alternative is saluting President Johnson,Truss or Starmer as he/her inspects his/her troops as they march past Him/Her down the Mall. There is nothing special about Republics......history proves it. It is one aspect of our lives that Politicians can't get their grubby little hands on!

Time and a pkace to air views, this thread is neither!!!
So where is the place to air your views if you don't follow what the media tell you to follow? I think she has done a great job as queen, but I can't pretend I'm devastated by her death. I reserve devastation for people I'm close to. I would have fully respected a minute's silence before our game tomorrow*, but just can't understand why it's been postponed.

    * even though we used to be rivals, your trajectory has gone in a different direction to ours. I used to post a fair bit on this forum when you had a separate gambling board and Time For Ale was one of my all time favourite MAD posters. Maybe Brin will remember me, he always offered his condolences on our demise, and I never doubted he was 100% genuine. I wish I thought the same on much of the faux grief I see about Liz.

Anyway, good luck for the season and if you don't get promoted make sure you take 6 points off Forest next season.

Maybe they've cancelled the football and the Last Night of the Proms because they don't want people singing God Save the Queen?

Patriotism is the same as jingoism to most of the establishment.

I’m no royalist but have total respect for Queen Elizabeth and the service she gave to our country. Is now the time to kneel? Not for me.

You’re bang on right. People just can’t be respectful and hold back the crap.

Be thankful how you’ve been brought up because others who believe they are the font of all knowledge will never be enriched in the way you are.

It’s an open discussion message board.

Lest we forget. It’s clear many have.
