Going up on Friday after until Sunday
From my last time in York, Brew York was my favourite place - an excellent establishment for those who like their craft beer. It's not well placed for getting to the football ground after though - You'd either have to go early and move on or rely on getting a cab.
In town I remember visiting Valhalla (a rock bar for any metalheads here), Pivni opposite that, House of the Trembling Madness (upstairs from a Belgian beer shop) and the more traditional Ye Olde Starre Inne. All great in their own way.
Will probably be following BFP's advice though as I'm going by train and the station pub is excellent. Might venture out to somewhere near the station as well. My plan is then to cab it to the ground and then get the bus back to the station.
Sold out.
Has anyone purchased parking at the ground? There's a link on York's website to buy matchday parking and then an option for the Notts match, but then it only offers you tickets for the match, not the car park.
Edit, found it.

Can't wait for this game now we've sold out, COME ON YOU PIES!!!!
Also is that serious about not wearing your colours as have done this before at York and didn't get any hassle?
I remember going to watch Notts play York many years ago when we were in the old second division. We went on the old Magpie Special train that used to operate in those days and were excellent value.
Anyway, when we arrived, quite surprisingly, there was a large number of police waiting for us and insisted on escorting us all to the ground. Quite scenic route too, as I recall.
At one point, I asked a copper why we were being treated like hooligans as we were Notts County and were decent supporters.
The copper apologised and explained that York’s next home match was against Man United and they were just having a dress rehearsal!!
Happy days though. I used to love those Magpie Specials 👍
I was on that special train. I managed to slip the police escort and find a pub. I think the last regular football special was Scu**horpe just before Christmas 1973. THere were 62 people on it, I counted them. Obviously not economical.
We had a good league record at Bootham Crescent, won more than we lost.....
Pld:17 W:6 D:6 L:5 F:28 A:28 GD:0 pts:24
Average PPG: 1.41
Unfortunately we blew a golden play off promotion opportunity in probably the most important match we ever played there. Had we won at York instead of drawing on the final day of 86/87, Jimmy Sirrel would have been in charge for a semi-final against Sunderland and potentially a 2 leg final v Swindon.
The less said about the most important ever home game v York, the better.
Looks a much tougher fixture now than it did at the start of the season.
I went on many Football Train specials after this date - I remember in 1983 going on 2 consecutive saturdays (Jan 1st to Liverpool & Jan 8th to Leicester in the FA Cup) on very packed trains with very different results & being taken to the ground by police on arrival (at Liverpool they provided free buses to take us to Anfield)
