An update on my grandson Leo.

Last night we received his blood results and the diagnosis from the leading Doctor in this field of medicine.

Leo has some of the highest readings the Dr has ever seen, the 2 blood markers they use for PANDAS Syndrome were 4 x and 6 x more than the normal maximum levels in a normal child.

Also, his bone marrow is extremely stressed at having to work so continually hard to fight the bacterial infection afflicting his brain.

His treatment starts on Friday and the doc is positive about a successful outcome, thankfully but we cannot be certain, not everyone recovers from this.

This illness is dangerous and very real, please just be watchful with the kids in your family.

It’s a STREP infection that causes the immune system to attack the brain.

Many kids go undiagnosed and have their lives ruined by it.

Sorry to hear what your grandson -and family-are going through with this and hope that the treatment works out. Glad that his doctor is very hopeful of success but guess they also have to point out worse case scenarios these days to cover themselves so try not to worry too much, hard as this must obviously be. Very best wishes to the little man and to you and yours.
