Firstly… Dark Side of the Moon is one of the all time classics up there with War of the Worlds…

Secondly the NASA moon landing is another conspiracy theory… in the days of black & white TV’s & 3 channels running off radio signals you struggled to get a decent picture. There were no satellites in orbit either, how could they send moving pictures back from the moon??

Yes the Soviet Union landed Luna 2 on the surface of the moon many years before Apollo 11 and there have been many landings as well but only Apollo 11 took back off.

I stand to be corrected but I think only China has managed to land a spacecraft on the Dark Side… The Russian Luna programme made several landings so agin conspiracy theories..

Yes, there have been :-
Manned and unmanned craft that have orbited the Moon and returned to Earth.
Unmanned craft that have got to the Moon and crashed.
Unmanned craft that have got to the Moon and soft landed.
6 manned craft that have got to the Moon, soft landed and returned their crew to Earth. A total of 12 men have walked on the Moon, all Americans.

If any Russians had walked on the Moon and not been able to return to Earth we would have heard about such an achievement / tragedy.

Nobody credible is saying that Russians are or were on the Moon.

As for Appollo 11 there is a lot of video of it available for anyone to see from the NASA web site.
I do believe that Apollo 11 got to orbit the Moon and the Lunar Module took 2 Americans to the surface.
They walked on the Moon and the Lunar Module took them back to Apollo 11. They then went back to Earth.
It is possible that all or part of this was faked but it would have been very difficult to do so in 1969 and to
keep the secret. So, on balance, I believe in the full Apollo 11 mission being true.

Although I do believe in the Apollo 11 mission there are a couple of points made by the disbelievers. The video looking from the cockpit of Apollo 11 out from a porthole is challenged as possibly being part of a mock-up / practice routine. The video camera used inside Apollo 11 produced high quality (for 1969) colour results but the camera used on the surface of the Moon was lesser quality (grainy) black and white. The implication is that lower quality video footage in black and white would be unlikely to reveal sufficient detail to prove the mission to be a hoax.

Whilst Armstrong and Aldrin were on the surface of the Moon I noticed that something, maybe a tool of some sort, fell out of a pocket of one of their space suits. The Moon's gravity is known to be one sixth of that on Earth. Yet this object fell as though it was in Earth gravity.

Furthermore, to get away from Earth you have to pass through the Kuiper Belt which is an area of radiation which totally surrounds the Earth. To the disbelievers in the Apollo Moon missions this is a strong point. According to them in 1969 it was impossible to survive passing through the Kuiper Belt, yet each Apollo mission passed through it on the way out and on the way back. NASA answer this by saying that
travelling through it quickly results in no problems.

I find it quite interesting to watch these 'Apollo Moon landings were hoaxes' videos, some being based on photo / video doubts, some based on Kuiper Belt doubts and other factors.

I doubt that there is anything of extreme interest at Area 51. It is way out in the desert, an American Air Force base used for testing prototype advanced aircraft. Some such craft may look exotic and be able to manoeuvre in ways not associated with current craft. Thus there are folk who like to get as near to the base as possible and then say that they have seen alien craft arriving and departing. In the last few years perimeter security has been increased and indeed the base perimeter has been expanded so that nobody can get all that close.

I believe that the American government has been a bit cute about this. They know that folk have suspicions about what might be at Area 51 and they like to keep the base well secure. You can get shot for being just inside the absolutely outermost periphery of Area 51. This
makes folk even more suspicious. Thus a lot of folk gather as near to Area 51 as possible. I think that there is nothing of extreme interest there but because folk believe that there is highly interesting stuff there they go there in large numbers. All this fuss and the associated security keeps all the interest away from numerous other American Air Force bases in other parts of the various deserts. Maybe in one of these other air bases that nobody has any interest in, there really is something that is incredibly interesting.

My opinion is no more informed than the next person. It is just opinion with no evidence whatsoever. Nobody has any evidence. Though there are people who make money out of writing fanciful speculation about Area 51.
