Does it really matter who is or is not chosen?
It is a game of 11 plus subs against another 11 plus subs, officiated by 4 onfield officials and loads of needless technology allowing others to get involved if they have a 'vested interest' (to quote swiss) in order to influence the outcome of any or all games.
Perhaps they would be as well off just tossing up to decide who wins, that way they will save any possible injuries or dehydration.
    Simples!

Alternatively, they could decide who has the best song, that should keep the Welsh happy.

Super- we’ve also got the best National Anthem. Get down here on international day, with the roof closed ,and 74,000 singing it before the game starts. It brings a shiver as far down as your underpants !!

Of course, it matters mein freund. My principled stand is not to watch our national team play in Qatar because they are all f*cking hypocrites, not because they are $hite.

I wonder what the Qataris will make of our lot "taking the knee"?

Just after Gareth confirms his faith in Maguire to help us win the World Cup, this pops up,

"Manchester United will consider offers for Harry Maguire next summer, with Erik ten Hag intent on selling his captain to help fund a continuing overhaul of the squad. Maguire cost £80m but the club realise they may have to accept a considerable loss to sell him."

Ten Hag wants to dump Maguire, Pep has already dumped Sterling, but this goes right over Gareth's head, and these two will be regular starters as England lumber towards their WC destiny.

I would guarantee you this though, Tarko might be sat at home watching, but Lampard won't be dumping him next summer.

On the train going into Manchester on Thursday morning, we plunked ourselves down and found ourselves sat straight across from two Everton supporting middle aged Scouse chaps.

The conversation of course immediately went straight to football, the potent question asked from across the divide with genuine amazement was "How the f*ck did your lot allow Tarkowski to come to Goodison on a free?"

Mrs BT who by now is fully educated on all Clarets matters replied in a flash, "Well we had your trousers down with Keane and McNeil, so we thought in the best interests of two great neighbouring football giants and ongoing mutuality it was considered fair play to give you Tarkowski for nowt".

I have never seen two Scousers rendered speechless before.

Ivan Toney. Called up by Southgate when bang in form. Never played a minute despite being bang in form. Not going to Qatar and still bang in form. If Bees fans aren’t singing songs about Southgate I will be gobsmacked.

To be honest I suspect the likes of Tarko and Toney might be better off sitting it out. In the likely event that it turns into a shambles, they'll seem better players with each piss poor performance.

He did get a bang on the head just before Bournemouth's second, could have affected his play, but Pickford had no excuse.
