Kendall Town sound like Ely City, with potential, but needs a cash boost by someone. Thanks for making the effort to reply.
The youthful Tom Finney did not get a game and his brother Joe resumed after that one occasion. Even at the time that he played for England Tom was a plumber in his home town of Preston.

Several years after he retired from professional football for a few years there was a friendly match in mid-season between Netherfield and Tom Finney's Eleven. Tom played in these matches. I recall seeing one such match that had a half-time score of 5 - 1 to the Finney Eleven but the final score was 5 - 5. The Tom Finney Eleven were all in their forties.

Tom became Honorary President of Netherfield / Kendal Town. He had a similar status at several other clubs including, I think, Carlisle United. Even in his latter years he would attend one Kendal Town match per season. This was gracious of him because by then he had poor eyesight.

The three entrances to the Kendal Town ground are all at the Parkside Road end of the ground. Currently there is terracing on three sides with 'scratching sheds'. There is a small wooden stand. At one end of the ground is the clubhouse, which can make a few quid with events. The far end just has a small area for spectators but looks better with the gradual establishment of trees behind that area.

A few years ago when Derby County bought new seats Kendal Town bought some of the old seats and fixed them to the terracing under the overhanging clubhouse roof. People paying for simply entry to the ground can sit in these seats for no extra payment. The photo is on the occasion of the signing of a sponsorship agreement.
