I mean, WTAF is journalism coming to?! Cardiff, Swansea and Newport County are also in Wales, but they've historically played in the Football League/Premier League (not the 'English' league) and have long been regarded as an important part of it.

"There is no doubting that the winner has to be Notts".

Well, obviously I want the winner to be Notts, but I think most Magpies' fans recognise we are in a close race with a very powerful opponent and we are probably second favourites based on resources, but we're doing incredibly well to give them a run for their money.

The only value of this article would probably be to Wrexham, as a motivational tool to stick on the wall of their dressing room. It certainly doesn't speak for me or my view of Wrexham FC. Like us, they've struggled for many years and are now having their moment in the sunshine like we are. It's unfortunate we can't both win automatic promotion, but notwithstanding the usual football fan banter around 'Hollywood' owners, I don't begrudge them their good fortune and their chance to dream. Ideally I would have liked them to go up last season, because we would be dead certs for promotion this season by now, but if we both end up being promoted then I'll be fine with that. It would be the fairest outcome.

It's not Flaubert, but I can't see what's wrong with it as far as a NEP article goes...

Don't think she'll be contributing to the Paris Review any time soon but as a Notts fan let's give her a break

And she might be on to something with this 'English league' but 'Wrexham is in Wales' line...we might have caught them on a technicality there ; )

That's the state of local newspapers these days unfortunately. Make or report a controversial statement, whether it has any basis in fact or not, to get clicks and sell advertising.

If the article is intended to be tongue-in-cheek, using an exaggerated form of football fan ignorance and local partisanship for comic effect, then I apologise for missing the nuance, but it reads as if it wants to be taken as a serious critique of the two clubs and the title race.

Answering that might involve looking up her back catalogue, her body of work so to speak, so I suggest you leave it there

This. I respect Wrexham and it doesn't matter who backs them, they are up there because they win. Their fans have been through a lot and the team get their share of late winners so they have heart. You're meant to respect a top opponent for the challenge they give you, we are dying to beat them to the title but whoever wins this league has more than earnt it. To even publish that line about them being in Wales is brain dead. Jog on Pam.

I see she's a 'writer and copywriter' and 'digital content editor' of some years' experience. I don't know where it went when she wrote this article!

Unsurprisingly, it's set the other side off: https://nation.cymru/sport/return-an...ck-on-wrexham/

Right. It's the law of football forums that some Wrexham fan will now say, 'Notts fans think they deserve to win the league because they're the oldest club in the world. What a strange bunch they are.'

No need. What a bizarre article. So many random thoughts that nobody needed to hear. Go home, Pam, you're drunk.

No real journalist would have written that crap.
