I think this highlights the fine line between having a bloated squad with some players happy to sit on their backsides taking a wage every week, and having a very lean squad, such as our, which any significant injuries or suspensions could leave you short handed. I get the feeling LW has never rated Joel Taylor for whatever reason, but as always he has been very fair with the players that have wanted away for more game time.

It’s good business for all parties. It allows Joel Taylor to find another club before the end of the season or look at options ready for next season. Also allows Notts to free up some wages that might be able to be used to bring in someone who can do a job for the rest of the season and maybe beyond whilst also providing cover for injuries and suspensions.

I’m sure the club will have targets identified and where we may need to strengthen. So it will be interesting to see who may come in.

    Trust the radar.

I also think it’s a measure and testament of the players we have brought in as well. All players should want to play and not be content with sat on the bench taking a wage. So respect to Joel Taylor and others like Kairo Mitchell who want game time and have sought it elsewhere.

Does it leave us short in that position?
Both Jones and Vincent are taking up that position in the absence of Chicksen.

Cameron and Austin can also play there and excluding Cameron and Chicksen the other 3 can play right wing back
I personally don't think we need another wing back for this season probably require a central defender depending on Brindley or maybe a forward depending on Scott.
Admittedly we only had 3 outfield subs on Saturday but we can only bring the 3 on and even if we had 2 more outfield players on the bench we would more than likely have brought the same 3 players on as we have so many permutatations and flexibility with the players in the squad.

I was a bit surprised and slightly disappointed about this.

LW's getting 'a get me out of here' knock on his door every week, nobody has mentioned Francis...

I'm going to take it as a good sign, my guess is that the atmosphere around the club is so intense and focussed these days (as it should be) that players on the fringe find it hard to be around

Think it’s clear that LW wants a small, tight knit group for this run in and would rather play those who are at its core out of position (Jones at wing back) than bring in someone who is otherwise right on the fringes. It’s a risk for sure, but he’s earned my trust for sure.

I think we only looked so threadbare on Saturday because of the very short term issues with Cameron and Baldwin tbf. Should look a lot better with them back hopefully tomorrow.

I was more surprised we let Francis go than Taylor. Obvious LW doesn’t rate JT so he was never going to get a game anyway, but Francis has been in a lot of squads this season and started a few even. Seems that the moment you knock on his door saying you need more game time, you’re out.
