He was particularly good at the back post. Something we'd been missing until Doncaster.
No change in Gorgeous George. Always had a mistake a game in him. Nothing different now.
Not really a mistake, just pure utter stupidity!! He was told once and immediately grabbed Connor again before the kick was taken. The ref pointed at him, he let go and as soon as the referee blew the whistle he grabbed him again. Unbelievable!
Anyway, a pretty poor game but at least the result was good. Too many games have been rubbish but at least we're taking the points again.
Special mentions for Adebisi and Long. Good to see the latter back and scoring. As for surprising fact of the game, was Agyei finding an accurate pass into space for Long to run on to and score.
It really was an awful game. Poor first half littered with 2 nailed on penalties (one stupidly conceded), an even worse second half brightened by the best bit of football resulting in the third goal. The referee was bizarre to say the least. Given everything that went on after the penalties, it is a miracle he awarded them. How the hell Barrow are where they are in the league is beyond me because they were shocking!
Poor quality game or not, we got 3 points and kept another clean sheet. Both have been difficult to achieve in the past. There were 2 lovely footballing moves by us....the first led to our 2nd pen and the other produced Longys goal. Shades of the Crewe of old. Belly is trying, the players are trying for him, a lot to be positive about at theoment.
Bizarre comments from Barrow manager re: 1st penalty. He seemed to think it was a "ludicrous" decision as "that kind of thing goes on at every match at every ground". He must be a big wrestling fan!!
Having your opposite number locked in your arms in the penalty box (or anywhere, really!) is not "part of the game". It's particularly not a good idea 30 seconds after being warned in a face-to-face discussion with the ref and then again 10 seconds later as the ref wags his finger in another warning.
If Barrow had been somewhat more disciplined, they might have done better. They were certainly lucky that the ref was generous in his treatment of the keeper, numbers 13 and 10. They were extremely lucky not to have at least 1 red card.
