Is it not 5? A win at Reading and Rotherham would clinch it irrespective of Sheffields result against Cardiff in the early kick off on Saturday. If Sheffield don't beat Cardiff then a win at Reading will seal it for us.

I was wondering why Vinni started Foster last night. My theory is he wanted to know if he could really hack it with the PL next season in mind. After 45 minutes he had his answer and hooked him. From what he said afterwards a few more will be sitting the same exam in the next six games.

I'm scratching my nut to think of a worse centre forward we have ever signed sinkov. Tony Hancock from Stockport for £50k comes readily to mind. If I remember rightly we somehow managed to offload him to the Nobenders and got our fifty grand back.

Who can we possibly shift this dud to?

Might be fair point Sinkov , however utd did the opposite to the usual by removing a midfielder instead of a forward hence Cork s removal - we didn’t have to compete centrally as much and in fairness to Jack he isn’t that dynamic or split the defence kind of player - tactically I think Vinny removed Foster for us to exploit the space left in the middle in front of their back four.

So really Benson and the ice man flooded the areas they left open and that’s why Ice man got the space to finish for us , quite admirable really as Vincent saw the potential weakness and exploited it ( sign of a thinking manager ).

As for Fosters slating I’m not sure it’s warranted there back four dealt with us and would have continued to do so had VK not exploited the space between the two lines they created.

Aged about thirty, if I was up against Foster it would have been one heck of an easy afternoon.

Been there BT and I’ve played a good level of football and been privileged enough to play with some ex pros ( some of ours at Bfc) , until you actually come up against pros though you don’t realise the gulf ( they are very good ) looks easy from the stands doesnt it.

I once played against Mickey Thomas, I was not that impressed to be honest.

Played alongside a lad for a couple of seasons who had been on the City books. He played left half, I played right half, he made the game look so easy, after a couple of seasons alongside Tommy I was a 100% better footballer.

That's Foster's only hope IMHO he can only get better playing alongside the likes of Tella and being coached by VK & Bellamy.

    I live in hope.

The only top class pro I ever played with was Chris Sims who played for Rovers in the old D1. I've played with a few who were on League clubs books but never made it, the most noticeable difference to me was their pace, and I don't mean actual speed. I often found myself running flat out just to keep up with them, while they just seemed to be strolling, not much more than ambling along. I used to think maybe it was just me that was bloody slow, but I never had problems keeping up with your average Burnley Combination player, it was always the ex pros that I was struggling with.

Going back some time played against Carl shut who gave me a very difficult afternoon as it goes, but I’ve been fortunate enough to play alongside , Roger Eli , Paul Atkinson , Ron Futcher , Andy Farrell , Liam Robinson , Mark Evans , Paul Jewel , Wayne jacobs ( missed out playing with Johnny Francis once on a trip I didn’t make unfortunately).

At the back end of my career in a West Yorkshire premier league game, played at Leeds City boys - tore my thigh chasing a very energetic/ athletic young man in centre mid home from university- afterwards he told me Sheffield Wednesday had just given him a contract to play professionally- can’t think of his name unfortunately- but he was a very good / quick footballer.
