And players are paid per week even when not playing.

Quite a fee when doing nowt

Harry Maguire has allegedly been asked to leave Man Utd after the FA Cup final with City and, he's to receive a staggering £10 Million do so. Just how much money is awash at big clubs?

It's like walking into to rob a bank! He's 30 years old, gets a whopping colossal pay off and can sign as a free agent for another team probably on Millions a year......unbelievable Jeff!

His current contract is worth £190,000 a week and still has two years to run so worth £19,760,000 so, it looks like they are willing to pay him approximately half of it just to see him off the books.

Does he take it or see his contract out? What would you do if you know you are definitely out of favour with your Manager/club?
He's under no obligation to walk away without being paid the full value of his contract so basically he will weigh up his options against the 20M. At 30 and with the loss of form he's suffered, sitting tight might be his best option. It depends on what his prognosis looks like for making the England team for next year's Euros and the 2026 World Cup (maybe at 33 he'll be too old for that one anyway) if he's not playing regular football at a high level. Whatever he chooses I don't think he'll need to worry about money for the rest of his life as long as he's sensible.

Different scenarios though have different outcomes for his agent

A transfer with a fee is probably more attractive to the agent

Perhaps he'll go to Saudi Arabia with Lionel Messi.

I've always thought this comment as being bull shine
How many year wages would 19 million be for you frog?? I know my lifetime earnings don't get close to one year of his earnings.
All that money for kicking a bag of wind about for 90 minutes. Shocking

I'm not so sure about bull shine but it certainly doesn't apply in Maguire's (and many other footballer's) cases. However, I doubt a player who has played for RUFC (or any other 'little old' club) for 10 years (e.g. RW) could consider being 'made for life'. Comfortable yes but still needing other income streams to get them and their family through the next 50 years.

Bet they’ve got a nice big F*** off house paid for though mortgage free. Good for them but like Sota says in comparison, the working class can only dream of such riches.

Don't bring Sota into this argument, he's busy watching Corrie

Harry Maguire, today confirms he has lost the captaincy of Manchester United.
