The vote may have been democratic, but the whole thing was sold on a pack of lies and scare stories from both sides.
History has shown that the best liars won, because nothing they promised has happened.
And you need to give your head a wobble if you don't think Brexit has played a huge part in that turmoil.

17m for and 17m against. Nobody had or has any clue how to represent and satisfy the 17m not of their view. Bunch of asset stripping, thieving cntues have made us the sick man of Europe- well done. Let's keep blaming each other.
The fact that the country democratically voted to sabotage itself when pretty well every economist asked said it was a terrible idea, makes it all the more alarming really.
Democracy is supposed to make that sort of thing less likely to happen, not more. The sheer level of lying manipulation of voters in the western world is over the top these days, and definitely cause for concern.
As is the fact that conservatives and progressives are constantly at each others throats. The fact is, we need each other for democracy to function. We keep arguing about stuff that either barely matters (often because it doesn't exist) or that we don't actually disagree on, while the ultra wealthy rob us all blind.
And the two phenomena are closely related. If there's one thing the lying press do more often than anything else, it's misrepresent the "other" side to the point where meaningful dialogue is inconceivable.
Unfortunately on this board the same ‘biased’ people turn up ‘throwing their toys out the pram ‘ because they can’t deal with what they seem as unfair in life. Like a couple of others on here I personally think they are all as bad as each other whoever is in power. The last election was really interesting, as much as there are a ‘vocal few’ I think there is a silent majority who are more balanced and less emotional who assess things more reasoned. For every ‘emotional moment’ on here by the few, their argument could easily be countered if anyone wanted to stoop to that level. For balance I thought it was quite encouraging to see people from all sides rallying to sort this issue and recognize the potential threat to freedom of speech , the route of eliminating cash completely to a total digital payment system with the issues and risks it brings (See what’s happening in Canada) and a further route to being ‘controlled’, Illuminati anyone?
So you’d happily see hundreds if not thousands of people made redundant because of a greedy few. I worked at one of those banks that was rescued and can tell you it was a **** time. Worrying about my job. Being abused and spat on, why? Because I worked in a bank on 20 odd grand a year. Yeah, I’m a proper ****er.
Until Boris Johnson, that's what I think every PM and government in my lifetime has done. I think some were spectacularly wrong, but I think they really did believe they were fighting for what was best. Johnson I think also thought this way but was unable to translate that into actions. Sunak just ran out of competence within the party.
I also think it's what every opposition party is doing. Even Reform UK.
What would look different if the parties did this the way you want?
