The “project” has never been a secret. From ALK’s perspective, it is an investment that they expect to make money on, albeit a leveraged buy out. Whilst Pace is committed to the club and the area, he is still a businessman, as are all the others. Businesses exist to make a profit .

VK has said from day 1 that he is about young talent that has potential. Buy them cheap, sell them high. The PL is the shop window now as VK and his staff work their magic to make gold from hay. We will have to get used to players being sold at profit with young talent coming in or coming from the academy.

The goal is to build a profitable, financially stable company off the pitch combined with a talented PL squad on the pitch to sustain the stability.

But will it be the same? Can attachments be formed when there is no core to the team. Nobody in the forum talks about the short timers. In the end "success" depends a lot on the supporters and the ethos they create.

Tbf chastenor apart from a lil in the last 60
Years Burnley have always bought developed and sold on , right back to where we found youngsters from the north east and Ireland

Only difference being we used to get them for nothing and now we have to pay.

Fair point Tap, but this is the way Brighton operate, they're selling three or four of their best players every summer and thriving on it, White, McAllister, Maupey, Trossard, Burn, Sanchez, Bissouma, Cucurella, Caicedo, all sold recently for serious money. As for supporters, just keep winning, fans will put up with anything as long as the team keeps winning.

Very true Sinkov, winning is everything. Brighton seem to have the knack of finding good replacements quickly. The Japanese winger and the young striker Ferguson are very impressive. It's a risky business though. Are our scouts good enough? The lack of successful players from the academy would suggest not. Hopefully VK and co will turn this around.

Brighton seem to exclusively trawl the South American waters for non-expensive potential superstars. I'm surprised no other teams have latched on to the South American player pool.

It is risky Tap, but I don't think we have a choice, Vinni has said our only serious revenue sources are TV money and player sales. Our academy is a waste of time, I don't think our current recruitment team has anything to do with it, in fact we are paying money for players out of other club's academies like Ramsey from Villa. While it could all so easily go Pete Tong, at the moment I think we are onto a winner.
