Thread: We cannot defend for toffee!!

  1. #11
its not fixable without vinny conceding to a change of mentality
last year in the championship, we won by retaining possession of the ball, by applying a press upto but also all over the pitch. we cant play this way as we are against better players who are taller, faster, bigger, stronger, smarter and technically better in teams that also want to retain the possession. our tactics are predictable teams know how to beat us, simply though the middle overload midfield, easy

We have met strong teams, and we have quite a few left
I've questioned some of VKs recruitment decisions during this window. He now knows what he's got to work with and we'll see what he can come up with to make us able to compete. We have quality going forward, but we lack a bit of quality and know how in midfield and defence. I don't want his job, and he has a lot of work to do. Probably still at work right now
It's a massive learning curve for players and staff alike... UTC

We started well and finished well but once Son had cancelled out Foster’s opener Spurs bossed it in between. Roberts did not play badly at left back but his best position is right back and his presence there was missed. Have we got Southgate’s Tripper at left back syndrome? Al Dakhil was played at right back and did not look comfortable there at all. On the plus side Koleosho was a real threat and Foster got his second PL goal. He has certainly played well in all three league games so far. Brownhill came on and deserved his goal. He should surely be starting for us. VK needs to sort out our back four and rejig the midfield. I don’t think JBG and Berge should be starting. 11 goals conceded in our first 3 league games tells its own story but we have shown we can create chances and score goals. If we stop conceding so many we will soon start picking up points. We lost our first three games in the 1920-21 season and that didn’t turn out too badly.
