If you want to know where the money has gone in Birmingham, check out the Equal Pay Claims scandal and the IT disaster.

"On Tuesday, it emerged that Europe’s largest local authority was forced to take the humiliating step of issuing a section 114 notice, meaning it has to halt all new spending immediately, with the exception of protecting vulnerable people and statutory services. The Labour-run council said it had been pushed over the edge by equal pay claims totalling £760 million, plus the £100 million cost of a botched IT scheme."

"The Section 114 notice issued by the city’s interim finance director Fiona Greenway starkly sets out what has gone so horribly wrong. Top of the list is that the council is on the hook for what will likely turn out to be a billion pounds in equal pay claims, owed to thousands of its own workforce who have been victims of discriminatory pay practices over recent years. Just last month I exposed how the city’s management had been allowing its bin collection crews – nearly all men – to work to a ‘task and finish’ regime since the pandemic, with many knocking off hours early as a result. If there was a textbook example of a practice likely to trigger an equal pay claim, this was it.

It was subsequently discovered that the council accounts signed off in 2020, 2021 and 2022 were flawed, with no accounting for the equal pay situation and liabilities.

It’s not the only manmade disaster to afflict the council. A £20 million new IT, finance and HR system designed to ‘save money’ has been so poorly implemented by the council that it is going to cost an eyewatering £100 million to put right. And rising demand for costly adult care and children’s services, the housing crisis and inflation meant that the council already faced an £87 million end of year shortfall."

A financial disaster of epic proportions, and not a Tory in sight.

Birmingham City Council (like a lot of others) should have gone into "Special Measures) in 2020 but the Tories are so predominantly fixed on doing anything to stay in power they do not actually govern. If they worked at governing the country instead of playing musical chairs with unelected Prime Ministers in Downing Street we would not be living in "Broken Britain".

My question to you poor souls living in a third world country is where on earth does all the money go to?
Ahh Swiss we have the best experts at spunking money away on either nothing - or green issues that don’t make sense - or looking after themselves.

The whole system from top to bottom wants sweeping clean- too many people are
On the gravy train looking after number one and have been quietly away for years - add to that billions we pish away on immigration and lazy layabouts who don’t want / refuse to work you’d have a fair pot of money.

Let’s not forget though the lazy layabouts are Votes that keep the corrupt lazy politicians in power.

We’re mad in this country and the more you take in the more you realise it’s a us and them scenario you couldn’t write some of it - we refuse to take gas from the North Sea - green issues and politics - the Norwegians don’t and we then buy it of them at vastly inflated prices ethically is that right because it’s not us that’s extracting it.

Illegal Immigration - need I say more

My post if we had a government with a pair of *******s could make us affluent and a brilliant country again - instead they’ll look after themselves and their mates and F—- the people that matter.

With the bankruptcy of Birmingham council, the fact that there is income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, VAT, council tax, special taxes, government debts over a trillion, the country is decaying before our eyes, where does all the money go to?

Wherever you look, Britain is increasingly a third world country. The tax take is massive by anyone’s standards.
We give France enormous amounts of money to stop the boat crossings.

We have spent hundreds of millions on "ghost flights" to Rwanda.

We have chucked tons of money at a floating barge and RAF Scranton without a single tenant being installed.

We have a government who are not fit for purpose but sadly the new lot will do no better.

BT , the puppets of politicians playing musical chairs are irrelevant, they do not run the country

In the past we had less corrupt or certainly cleverer than the last two decades breed of politicians/ parliament.

Anyone who actually tries to govern would be swept aside like leaves in autumn- we really are kidding ourselves if we think that the muppets called politicians- prime ministers can govern- they are the ones who are governed- everything underneath that in the chain is irrelevant to those at the top pulling the strings.

Incompetence is everywhere in councils but in fairness when you look higher up the food chain there isn’t a lot in the way of moral code and legal leadership is there regardless of party.

As Liz Truss and Kwasi Karteng found out Army, but BT doesn't get it, he's still living in the past and thinks Party Politics matters.

Punch and Judy show mon ami, told you before about it, instead of watching them knocking each other about, look behind the curtain to see if you can catch a glimpse of who's pulling the strings. "That's the way to do it".

Army knows the time of day, but you mon ami, you prefer to live in the past, wibbling on about Tory cuts, it's quaint and touching, but politically mon ami, sadly you're an anachronism.
