It just reminds us all of the big turn around which happened with Mighty Jolinton.
I’ve never been in the “ sell him he’s ****e,not good enough” camp, the blokes proved all the people slagging him off, which is disgusting btw, wrong, and I hope they are all feeling very guilty right now. To talk about our club captain like stinks, obviously Eddie sees something in him, which is good enough for me. Was great to see him after the match walking round the field and feeling part of it all again, thinking I’ve contributed this time, well done Jammall you deserve it mate!

He’s had poor form in the past and pelters (including from me). Naturally, as fans, we concentrate on what we see on the pitch on match day. That’s 90 or 180 minutes per week. How many hours training and meetings are there in a week? A player who rarely makes it to the pitch on match day could still offer a huge amount to the squad the rest of the time. Eddie clearly puts a lot of emphasis on this - Lascelles (he even keeps him as captain), Ritchie and Dummet (new contracts).
I hold my hands up. I wanted to bring in a replacement and thought his time at the club was up.
That's why I'm not a football manager!
Arm chair pundit at best haha
According to NUFC.com, he’s in the last year, which is my usual go to site for stuff like this.

He was captain at arguably the worst period in the clubs recent history - Ashley, Charnley, Bruce, the blocking of the takeover by the league for 18 months, lowdown, empty stadiums etc. I think it affected all of us and he had to keep the squad united along with a handful of senior pro’s. Bound to affect his form from time to time and had been made captain by Rafa in the first place, which says a lot about his standing.
He was my MOTM last night. When he bust a gut to make that challenge on Dembele, absolutely fantastic.
