Ricky Gervais used to say that he didn't like being called an Athiest as it was a word created by someone who did believe in a god for someone who didn't.

He said it was like him creating a name for someone who didn't believe in Santa Claus.

If his faith gets us into League One I'm all for it. If it doesn't I am still all for it. Live and let live I say.

Why would anyone be offended by someone else's faith? Bizarre that we even have to have this discussion.

For what it's worth, organised religion has never really worked for me, but I'm certainly not an atheist. I think it's great that some of our players are taking a path of spiritual growth. Regardless of whether you believe this or that, it seems like players like Bostock and Crowley are actively trying to be better people - and their faith is the inspiration for that.

He should study Greek then. Theos is greek for god. Putting an "a" in front of a noun in greek makes it mean "without", and whilst we are at it "agnostic" means "not knowing" (gnostic = knowing).

    Some other common examples are:

    amnesia: ‘not’ able to remember
    apathetic: ‘not’ caring
    asocial: ‘not’ social
    apolitical: ‘not’ political
    amorphous: ‘not’ having a shape
atom: particle of matter which can “not” be cut
anemia: having ‘not’ enough hemoglobin or red blood cells
analgesic: pertains to ‘not’ having pain
anarchy: a state of ‘not’ having a central ruling authority in a country or nation
    anonymous: ‘not’ having a name

I suspect that Gervais is just trying to be funny clever rather then being ignorant.

It seems to me from snippets I've heard or read that christianity has helped them to turn a corner from maybe some personal demons.

Like Irish I wa brought up a Catholic and attended Catholic schools and practised the religion until my late ****s. If these guys want to have something to hang on to then a christian way of life is not a bad one to choose.

However I do feel a twang of discomfort when players sign themselves with a cross, kneel and kiss the grass, or dedicate a goal to their god though I assume it's more to do with thanksgiving for whatever their god has brought them rather than anything else.

I hover between atheist and agnostic. But Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy provided many answers for me

Gervais and other vocal atheists seem to think the burden of proof for a creator lies with those who believe in one, and that not believing in one is somehow scientifically proven, which it isn't.
