I played poker online, all over the uk and Europe.
I started small and worked my way up but used a strategy most gamblers forget to use, who h is bankroll management.
that always kept me in the black, account wise.
I earned some good money in the early 2000 from it but always knew my limits.
Age and family overtook the buzz of the game untill I was bored playing so called it a day.
Imo it like alcohol, drugs ect. If people don't have the willpower of self control the vice will overtake them and it's a downward spiral...
It's an enjoyment for lots and a nightmare for others, they won't stop it or regulate it.
If people need to gamble, they'll find it somewhere, like they did until they legalised it.
Yet as mellow says the tv stations flood us with adverts for lottery tickets, bingo etc all directed at the most vulnerable whose gambling cannot be monitored. That's where most of the problem lies. Sports gambling which requires some degree of analysis is not the problem.
Racing men local I knew including my Dad made it for me back then. Lotto like I said my only gamble now. My last bet on the horses was the opening day of last year's Cheltenham festival came out winning but didn't want to get back into like it was so left it at that. I was a form man so usually was mostly favourites I backed so had to put more on. Not bothering with this years festival but if I was a serious gambler I'd have one bet March 12th 4-10 race Mares Hurdle Lossiemouth lump on showing 8-15 at the moment cannot honestly see it losing should be in the Champion Hurdle how it won on trials day at Cheltenham but Willie Mullins he's got a fancied runner in that race so not taking it on.
Why tip any at all?
You put this thread up saying the government should monitor and intervene on gambling. Now you're saying it's everyone's choice. Make your mind up.
Personally, I don't want you, the government or anyone else telling me if I can gamble and what I can gamble.
