So there we have it, British success, as The Manx Missile Mark Cavendish wins TourDe France stage number 35 and cements his position as the greatest Road cycling sprinter of all time. And he made it look easy…

A crash last year in, IIRC, the first stage in which he broke his collar bone meant he didn't get the chance to do it last year in what was the final year of his contract. All credit to Astana who immediately offered him an extra year if he wished to postpone his planned retirement. Hopefully, he can win a couple more stages this tour and make his record even more difficult to beat.

As a cyclist myself I watched the last hour of yesterday's stage and, as he crossed the line, with his chain having come off, I put both arms in the air and exclaimed "Yes, Cav, 35". Said it all.

Not sure if you watched in on Eurosport, the only thing that stopped it being perfect was that Carlton Kirby didn’t call the action

Would have been more impressive yet if he'd won with his chain having come off 6 miles back....

London North circular is pretty entertaining if you like watching cycling / motorcycling, the fast food delivery guys in particular are fun to watch.

Currently watching Cav’s Last Stand and my heart’s beating faster than it ever did for the Euros. 6k to go and who knows…

... unfortunately, he missed the jump. Looked in a good position 2K out.

Bothe the English and Dutch women qualified for next year's Women's Euros in Switzerland last night. Both scraping a draw. Both capable of much better. Sounds like the men's teams...
