Over time I've read reports on Roy and how he was a very favourable and well liked player. Like others who have posted, I was too young to ever see him play. He will always be fondly remembered by those who were fortunate to see him play.

Sincere condolences to Roy's family and friends.

    RIP Sir.

    R.I.P. Roy
Quairney was in goal when I started watching the Millers.
Roy Ironside came into the team, a popular player with the fans.
Gordon Morritt also played in goal for the Millers at the same time.
    Sincere condolences to Roy's family

Roy belongs to the era when players didn't move on every other year. He was a stalwart of the team that I started watching.

I always thought of Roy and Pete Madden as being irreplaceable. A real legend.

    Condolences to family and friends.

    I'm starting to feel old.

Saw Roy play in a testimonial for, I think Sheeny Wilson, circa 1968. A late replacement for Gordon Banks, he had a brilliant game.

Me too, this brought back to me the memory of having to ask themiller what "save Jock" that everybody seemed to shout meant, finding out it was short for good save. I remember Roy Ironside much more, he was just so dependable. RIP
