    Saw Bill Maynard (On no, it's Selwyn Froggitt) going into the Directors Lounge in the eighties - apparently he was briefly a Notts (and Leicester) apprentice - whether he was a Notts 'fan' or just revisiting for old times sake - who knows....

    Interesting, I didn't know he had a connection with Notts.
    From what I can find online, he grew up in Leicester (real name Walter Williams) so would have been a Leicester fan, he played for their junior team alongside Don Revie (who later introduced him to Jack Charlton with whom he became a close friend). Ended up going to Kettering but a bad injury finished his career at 17 (1945/46), so I would guess he had a trial with Notts in-between playing for Leicester and Kettering towards the end of the war. Presumably we were playing against Leicester when he came to Meadow Lane in the 1980s.
