Genesis did a track called Match of the day about, er, hold on and it’ll come to me. Not my cup of tea. Wind and Wuthering and Trick of the Tail were the end of Genesis, anything after that was MOR. In the last couple of years I’ve seen Steve Hackett and Mike and the Mechanics who both now blow Genesis out of the water having written or collaborated on most of their good stuff. Saw Purple at Newcastle City Hall around 1970 or 71, also Ten Years After and Lindisfarne. Music was pure and uncomplicated back then. Missed Zeppelin and Sabbath but loved both.

Kiss and Rush passed me by and, from what I’ve heard since I’m not bothered. I get AC/DC but wouldn’t fight to go and see them. Magnum? Meh. I was more into ELP, King Crimson, The Who (figure that one out) Traffic (Winwood is a fekkin genius), Yes and Tull. They don’t make then like that any more.

I haven’t thought of Thomas Dolby in about 30 years,I seem to remember him as a scientist for some reason, didn’t he do a single with that mad scientist that was always throwing his arms around back in the 90’s(?)

I went to see Reverend Peyton earlier in the year and he was ace,Deacon Blue as always put on a great show at Scarboroughs open air theatre,I’m going to see The Dead South next year after last year’s cancellation, they’ve got quite popular since the two gigs so the ticket price has risen from £27 last year to £40 next year, would love to see Walk of the Earth who do some great covers on YouTube and going to see the Barenaked Ladies in Manchester was great, the prices of gig tickets have risen a lot over the years and I used to love going to another city to see a band and spending a couple of nights there but it’s getting financially harder to do that so unless the band that I want to see comes to Nottingham then I’m winding down my gigs but not until after Paul’s Weller and Heaton later in the year

Biff Byford is Saxon, Ian Gillan is Deep Purple and he’s a young 78 years old..

She blinded me with Science featured Magnus Pike, you will have heard Hyperactive as well i'm sure but my personal favourite was i love you goodbye,he also played keyboards for Bowie at live aid.
Martin McAloons brother Paddy was the singer/songwriter of Prefab Sprout but ill health forced him to stop singing.

I liked Prefab Sprout, they had a Deacon Blue vibe to them but I think that was they was early 80’s if I remember right, wasn’there a blonde female backing singer in it as well? I think that I might have bought one of their albums back in the day but my memory is a bit fuzzy on the subject for some reason,I think that it was called From Memphis to Langley or summat like that, tbh I can’t be bothered to stop writing this post to Google it
