    Dutch delight
The euphoria that accompanied the final whistle was in keeping with the optimism that surrounded United in the build-up to the game.

Zirkzee took the acclaim in such a calm manner it was reminiscent of another Dutchman, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is now a senior figure in Ten Hag's coaching team.

The home supporters sang Van Nistelrooy's name as he made his way to the dressing rooms, confirmation of the status he still has at the club.

If Zirkzee gets anywhere close to the 150 goals in five seasons Van Nistelrooy managed for United, he will have done extremely well.

As it is, just like the 23-year-old's illustrious fellow countryman, he scored on his Premier League debut against Fulham.

Any late nerves at Old Trafford should have been eased by Garnacho but he somehow managed to fire wide after being set up by Rashford.

When the elation subsides thanks will also be due to Harry Maguire, who managed to intervene when former United midfielder Andreas Pereira looked certain to send Alex Iwobi through on Onana's goal midway through the second period, when the game was still deadlocked.

All glowing reports when they struggled to beat a mid table team who lost their most influential midfielder in the summer.

Glad we're not a 'hype job' of a club. It makes it all the sweeter when we finish 3rd this season ahead of all of them!

ManU impressed me more than Dipperpool so far. Ipswich are having a real go. Early days.

Much better from Liverpool this half.

2-0 is a fair reflection of this half.

Too bad. Was hoping Ipswich would pull this out.

Wham 1-1 Villa at HT. Villa looking quite impressive - let’s wait till the CL games start to take effect.

First game of last season we drilled them 5-1.

When they start playing 2 games a week, Emre, who has always been accused of focusing more on European competition than the domestic league games will have to prove his status as a potentially 'Elite' manager to maintain a winning team on all fronts.

Like it or not, Villa have built a much deeper squad than us and I expect them to be genuine top 4 challengers again. We’re struggling to offload a lot of deadwood, much of which will leave on free transfers next summer which won’t help us with PSR. We’re still a good few years away from having a good enough squad to compete on multiple fronts.
