Willock starts instead of Longstaff but Tonali still on the bench.

    What a joke.

    Wilock is 20% of Tonali.

It's a head-scratcher, for sure, purely in terms of the quality Tonali has over either Willock or Longstaff.

Part of me wonders if Eddie is smarting over Tonali's gambling ban?

We certainly lose it in the first half.

Had Tonali been starting would we have conceded 2. . .

Tonali needs to start from now on.

I think this result and performance could reinforce Eddie’s valuation of Longstaff, and what he brings to the team, he’s probably kicking himself for dropping him now. There were some statistics being bandied about last season showing that when he plays we lose less matches, yesterdays result and performance enhances that idea. This is not my opinion btw, just to be clear, this result has been coming all season we’ve rode our luck and it’s finally ran out. I expect to see a much improved performance v City, in the past that is what happens so back to the drawing board Eddie.

I'd rather it reinforced the notion that Tonali should start, tbh.

If your system relies on Longstaff rather than Tonali, maybe it's the system that needs tweaking.

I dont think there is a system where Longstaff works better than Tonali, tbh.

Why not play both and bench Joe, he’s been rubbish. I’m not Longstaff biggest fan, cough cough, but Eddie rates him so ……

Tonali is a finer player in every single aspect - and I rate Longstaff a long way, but with what we're producing on the pitch, Tonali needs to play the full 90 mins. each time.
