    Now 12th.

A win tomorrow would put us up to 7th whereas a loss and Man 'u winning would leave us 13th.

After a quarter (more or less) of the season.

We're capable of much better but, taking our black and white specs off for a moment, the very least you can say is it's a fair reflection of how we've played so far.

I'd go along with that for how it's panned out.
It's a long season, and the Christmas and New Year period tend to sort of the wheat from the chaff, so let's hope we're the wheat by that time, going into the latter part of the season with a few additions of quality as well as the return of dinner dinner dinner dinner-----Botman.

The lack of signings in the summer is showing..

People keep defending Howe, however.. look at Aston Villa.. I wouldn't say they have better players but their manager is miles ahead of Howe.. January will show how serious we are, I still don't think Howe will be manager next season and I'm sticking with that

Aye. Not just the lack of signings but the two we had to sell...and the ones we didn't sell.

Whichever way you swing it, even taking PSR and not having to sell Bruno/Isak into account, it was a piss poor Summer and, as you say, we're paying for it now.

I don't think there's any real way around brushing failure to add quality under any carpet, even for the seasoned optimist, but it is what it is for now, and we simply have to show a stronger push for signings (at least two) in January, assuming we can keep the majority of the quality we have, fit and focused.

The biggest positive hint for me was in Gordon signing a new deal and talking about how he likes the way the club is heading.
I know he's signed a massive lucrative deal and could simply say all the words people want to hear but I take that as a future reckoning on strengthening.
