    This.

No idea if Crowley is defying the manager, team orders etc but for a lot of the second half tonight, he was playing centre back!

To be fair, we started Crowley high up the pitch tonight but had to move him deeper after half an hour with the Hincy sub because everyone else had been so bad we’d never got the ball that far up the pitch. He then helped us get control of the game back from deep, but the trade off is you lose his creativity higher up the pitch.

I have a friend from 1972, married in 1973 to a fellow devout christian, same house until their 4 kids grandkids had grown up then downsized a couple of years ago. Not bitter about the one child lost shortly after birth, it being something decided for them by Jesus. Both use their spare time with christian duties and charities. His golf has always been less tempestuous than mine mirroring to quite an extent the difference in our lives.

On the other hand some of the most un-christian people I've met are religious.
    Excellent post.

Good for him. Whether you believe in God or not, having a strict moral code and living by a set of values that promote love, forgiveness, and humility can't be a bad thing.

Hope he sticks around long term. I see Mansfield fans are hoping they'll be back in for him in January.

Why would he leave a bigger club, bigger support, It would be like going back to morecambe, crappy little ground, no chance.

Fair play to Dan Crowley if he dedicates his life to God,
appreciating the talents he has been blessed with.
Living his life in accordance with the scriptures benefits both his career and his family.
He conducts himself with humility and respect, unlike some who make gestures entering the pitch but live double standard lives.

Money I guess. I don't think the allure of L1 is all that for him. He was there with Morcambe and chose to join Notts in L2. I'd like to think we can offer him what he wants to commit long term.

Ultimately if his religion is his thing and works for him then great. What I truly appreciate is that he just gets on with it and it doesn't define him to me or other fans of Notts County. To me he's a great player for my team and I appreciate him a lot. But what I took from the brief interview was his state of mind in that he can see the bigger picture. "I don't think about it like that". Dan sees cause and effect. He has a wife and kids he loves obviously but if he had ended up playing for Arsenal or whatever maybe that would not exist. I love that outlook and whatever he does at the end of the season all the best!
