And the round before against Tottenham which was another magical FA Cup replay night under the Oakwell floodlights .

A real blood and thunder encounter , Ward's header , and Barnard's thunderous shot right in to the top bins to finish them off .

Ginola was class for them as he was the next season against us in the FA Cup .

Part of the now past magic of the FA Cup was the little club going to a top club, getting a draw and a replay at their own "little" ground.

    Newcastle-v-Hereford

    Barnsley-v-Enfield

    Man U -v-Barnsley

Brilliant replay nights plus income for the small club

All sacrificed so the Premiership clubs in Europe will not have the nuisance of FA Cup games midweek.

    You reap what you sow.

Pretty much full strength our team today I’d say. I’d have guessed maybe Jalo and/or Yoganthan would’ve started but nope, I guess Clarke’s intentions are clear.

I agree although I much prefer Pines to Mael who somehow always seems to get caught in possession at some point in the game but your point of it more or less being a first choice eleven

I would probably agree and Pines is of course a goal threat from set pieces too. I suppose with Pines he generally has to play in the centre of the back 3 meaning Roberts would then move to the side.

Looks like Cotter has dropped out of favour after his showboating performance midweek.
Benson absent again, maybe 2 games a week is beyond him after his injury problems.
Not sure of the benefit of 2 centre halves on the bench when Marsh could do with some game time off the bench.

18'. Robbo thunders home a header from Corey's delivery and gives us the lead in this tie!

    30'. Curtis equalises for Vale
A cross from the left bounces off a defender straight to Curtis who rounds Killip and fires in. That's a really poor goal to concede.

The Reds were good for 20 minutes but the home side have had the better of the rest of the half.
