this! Guess SM said 90% of our injuries were knocks, but Crowley, McG, Robbo? Who knows. The new pitch was touted as being easier on the home team's legs. At some point our injury list has to be addressed systemically? Is the coaching team doing something wrong in training?

Just my theory but the players are expected to be highly tuned athletes and have to perform to within an inch of exhaustion to cover as much ground as possible to control territory. Many athletes suffer from niggling injuries and take great care in their build up to a major event. But players are also constantly facing impacts and the two combined creates an issue.
It would be interesting to have a comparison of our average squad energy expended versus say Mansfield or Port Vale.
Managers' praise seems more geared to effort and less so for effectivness. That used to make sense for mid-fielders but I'd rather see forwards never go into their own half. And if the No 9 does nothing all game but bang in two goals he's done his job.
Add to that the fact that the attacking side is normally pushing onto a stable(ish) defence and putting themselves into close contact. The ball over the top never produced so many injuries because there was less one-on-one contact. Guess it's the negative side of possession football (unless you just pass it across the back that is, but we've stopped doing that so much).
Someone commented on Magpie Circle podcast either this week or last, that they thought we'd seen the last of Crowley in a Notts shirt and that he'll be gone in January.
I think that quietly, one or two others might be starting to think the same but I hope they're wrong.
It wouldn't do his reputation much good, especially being as traveled as he is if, he was found to have feigned injury and effectively, refused to play, not that I (yet) think that.
What do others think, what was a minor injury has seen him out for about six weeks now and no gossip to suggest he's ready to return.
