I went for John Ward at one time, ex centre-forward with manager experience, remember him coming
with Bristol Rovers to NYS when manager, cool & collected personality, while Steve Evans rants away.
I mentioned him coming in to our club, & bringing a coach in to our club, & guiding him in football
management, but John Ward now aged 73 years.
Wor abart Paul Hurst? UTB
Anyone approached would see the previous history and probably think boooger that!
Serioulsly who would think yes thats for me ???
Cant see anythin other than same again - makes u realise how good was Warney and his patience - hes doin ok at Derby and I wish him well
Worra mess were in - owner needs to move on now cos were goin down every week !
David Artell for me, plays good football develops and coaches his players and would probably take the job
No, he's just been fired by the bottom team in the division. He will always be a hero at Grimsby for twice taking them back into league football. But apart from one outstanding season during his first spell at Shrewsbury six years ago he's never impressed in League One or Two.
Lowe is both credible and realistic; I'd be happy with him. Wild perhaps though his record isn't as impressive as Lowe's. Schumacher isn't realistic I'm afraid. He's presumably still being paid big money by Stoke and it would take something very attractive for him to take another job this season.
Mentioned it before Peltier getting mentioned how about Woody and Breck?
An old head and a young un he can guide and pass on experience an unlikely double act I know but one thing they have in common is they both love the club and are both local, they would run through brick walls something nobody on our current playing staff anyway would, Woody would probably cost a bit of compo from Donny but hasn?t figured this season I don?t think
Breck I know is I think 70 but people on about Warnock so why not! Give them a contract till end of season the brief being just stop us getting relegated then re assess
Make no mistake we are in deep trouble and doing nothing is not an option as has been said the club is rotten from top to bottom but it?s the manager that carries the can I was one of those who wanted Evans and wanted him to do well but I don?t believe a word that comes out of his mouth any more he could always spin a good yarn but it?s embarrassing now they were both booked again yesterday
Look at the teams that have beaten us no disrespect Fleetwood Cheltenham Crawley earlier this year it was West Brom Middlesbrough Sunderland
Scary
My choice would be somebody like Richard Wood. Peltier maybe, but Woods history and legacy at the club would at least give us some battling edge.
I know it's a gamble but I doubt we have a queue of established managers waiting to step in.
People will naturally ask "what has Wood ever done as a manager?" but the same questions were no doubt asked about Mark Robins and Paul Warne when they were first handed the managers job. Neither had managed before and were promoted from within. I'd say they are 2 of our best managers of the past 20 years or so. What they lacked in managerial experience at the time of appoinment was counterbalanced by the fact players would seemingly run through brick walls for them.
This is what we need at RUFC and what we thought Evans would bring. But his methods are dated, the screaming "mad dog" style of management just does not resonate with the players of today.
So to sum up, Wood until the end of the season, see how it goes. If it goes well, extend it. Pelts could have a role too
