Not a chance.
No. Performances to inconsistent, tempo of play, attack too slow. Have to go through the motions too often
I felt sorry for him in the summer as apart from the keeper and 3 of the defenders signed I think the recruitment was awful, he was dealt a really bad hand by Montague.
Last season I wanted him out but was prepared to give him a go. This season when everyone was fit I found his football boring, passive and with little spark in the final third, we don?t entertain anymore.
Last season it was give him to the end of the season, then it was give him 10 games and now it?s let him get the injured players back.
Sorry but cut the losses, the bloke may be nice but he ain?t up to the job. The crowds will dwindle with him in charge and he has no credibility with supporters now the results are going wrong, it?s just a case of how long it takes for the brothers to acknowledge they got this horribly wrong before two seasons are wasted by him. Gone in the new year and hopefully with Montague as well as he has caused this.
He lacks the motivational powers of Williams as others have said. He is not very dynamic. Clearly tactically very astute. He's been very unlucky with injuries and I will not judge him on the Williams hangover from last season. Yeah he probably can but equally he probably can't. He's just very "meh" to me and I am not calling for his head or singing his praises. I wish him all the best and what will be will be.
If everyone’s fit, our first XI is one of the best in the division. If key players are injured for long spells, we have an average team. Not sure it matters who the manager is in those circumstances.
I do think SM can get us promoted this season, but we’re going to need one hell of a second half of the season to accomplish that. I live in hope.
better luck with injuries or a deeper squad, no problem.
This season? Unlikely at this point, although I still expect us to scrape into the playoffs - unless we have continued bad luck with injuries.
As for SM himself, I think at present he might not be as good a head coach as Williams was, however he's on an improving curve. I would definitely stick with him. He will be better a year from now than he is now, and you can't say that for managers at the other end of their careers. He absolutely sorted out the defensive issues (aided by better players) and his attack at present is hampered by our best attacking players being injured all the time.
I'm still of the view that if you can keep making the playoffs you will eventually get promoted, but I think in this league automatic is a much better strategy because there's 3 places, unlike the NL. But I'd be skeptical of any manager taking us up with the injuries list we've carried this season so far.
