    It?s a bit of a conundrum that.

We can?t continually keep posting we can?t score - as you did in the initial post.
Without suggesting why we arn?t able to score.
The budget is producing the players we have , it's that simple .

To be honest I don't think we are that bad a side , I wouldn't go as far as to say solid top six by any means but unfortunately today we were outdone by a genuine bit of quality for the Brum equaliser and a bit naive defensively for their winner .

We more than matched Brum for a large part of the game until Phillips was sent off and to be honest you couldn't really argue with the decision .

The problem for Clarke is that this is a results business and he's in the biggest job of his career where the expectations are a bit different to what he had at Port Vale , Walsall and Cheltenham .

This isn't a team I dislike , far from it , it's just lacking the real quality Barnsley supporters expect when in League One .

Clarke is what he is , a lower league manager who will probably spend his entire career in the lower leagues , he's not a bad HC but he's not a particularly talented one either .

You could argue the team are probably a mirror image of him .

The real question is where do we find the extra momentum needed to get out of this league .

Me neither although I suspect Hourihane may get an opportunity if the team falls further down the league .

Those empty seats at Oakwell seem to one's who deliver the bullet these days .

Agree with a lot of this.

I would say that I thought Phillips? first yellow was soft though. In fact, I know the officials have a tough time of it but they seemed borderline biased today. I will have to watch the highlights back but it looked like we were robbed of a nailed on pen and had it been Roberts pulling Stansfield down, he?d have pointed to the spot quicker than you can say ?15 million pound striker?. The linesman in front of the West Stand was one of the worst all season. Don?t think he put his flag up once in the first half but was putting it up loads in the second, even when he was in line with play.

Nwakali needs to start for me next game. He probably will do given Phillips? suspension.

I also sit in the west stand and agree with your comments on the officials , I normally bite my tongue because the men in black have difficult job but those three today were bordering on border line cheats, the penalty he did not give in the first half was a disgrace, he had a great view and completely bottled it and you knew from the City fans that they got away with one, you could have heard a pin drop as they collectively held their breath waiting for the ref to point to the spot but he didn"t and from then on he just got worse , the linesman in front of the west stand could not keep up with play and in my opinion he resorted to guessing on a number of key decisions , they were totally inept. All in all I thought we made a decent fist of it and did not deserve to lose but like a lot of things in life you do not get what you deserve , we move on !

We played Wrexham, Birmingham and Huddersfield. Non of them were of the standard of Portsmouth. Non of them played us off the park. In fact non of them were better than us. Difference is, they will all spend good money strengthening in January, while we will stick with what we got, or bring in a lower league rough diamond. Our limit is to probably scrape into 6th…. But I suspect 7th-10th is the realistic finish for us.
Two things today for me …
DKD isn’t worth what we paid for him. Pines had a really good game.
I think the ref was poor, and the combination of him and the weather affected the game big style.
Their fans were Sh*tting themselves at times in the game today. Had Phillips challenge happened in front of 300 Leyton Orient away fans , the sending off wouldn’t have happened. Turning point was absolutely Robert’s going off.

    HMS P*ss the league?
They aren’t that good….. but it’s all about goals. And we aren’t even getting close to being half good at those.

I heard we more than matched Birmingham no matter how many ???millions they spent.
But we again could not score.
Did we miss Cole and/or McAtee (just asking for a friend).

Of course the team is a mirror of the HC.
    That?s always the case.
And that?s why it?s plain to see he?s not good enough.

If Hourihane starts then that?s a signal that we are well and truly f*****.
What?s this obsession with Hourihane ???
    He?s done playing FGS.

Where do we find the extra momentum ???
    Well I?m glad you asked.

    Firstly we replace DC.
I like the fella - but he?s not good enough.
In saying that - he might be good enough if he had a fully rounded squad.
    Which he hasn?t.

In the transfer window we replace Cole and McAtee with players that have similar attributes ie proper strikers.
Because currently we haven?t anyone at the club to fill the striker role.
    Loans will do for now.

The foundations for an excellent 1st Division team are clearly there.
We are just missing one ***** part of the jigsaw.
It?s incredibly frustrating at the moment.
The saying - spoiled the barrel for a penny worth of tar - very much applies at the moment.
