Can't comment on pre 80s players, but in my time watching I'd put the strength of our goalkeeper list against any team at our level. I think the fact we've often had such good keepers is always going to make it difficult for bang average ones like those in our ranks today. Having met a few of these, we also seem to get really decent people in that role too.

The Millers have had some good goalkeepers over the years.

Anyone remember goalkeeper Gordon Morritt playing centre-forward for the reserves,
I watched the reserves a lot when they were in the North Regional League.
Gordon Morritt scored a goal from the byline, with the ball ending up in the nearside
corner of the net at the railway end at Millmoor, referee & linesman were looking for
a hole in the side netting, a snooker player would have been pleased with that shot.

Gordon Morritt -
In 1964 he was in goal at home for a league cup game against Swansea, the game was
drawn, he then played centre-forward in the replay.
Playing for the reserves, Gordon Morritt played up front, scoring 22 goals in 14 games.

I remember graham brown pulling one of the best saves I've seen off..at bramall lane..think he was in for ray mountford who was possibly injured..
