Bournemouth are safe. There is no reason why shouldn’t put out a decent side. They have nothing to lose.

As much as I like a cup run, with our squad so thin on quality, we don’t need any more injuries or bookings. I suppose that a win and a good lucrative draw in the next round would be good for finances but that’s about it!

It's my birthday on Saturday and I'm travelling down for this one. All I'm hoping for is a cracking social on the beer, a decent performance and no embarrassment or humiliation. Pretty much guaranteed the first one. No idea about the second but the third and fourth will depend largely on the first. Hic 😉.

The last thing I am is an apologist for United or any other big club and the FA Cup but from memory United didn't want to boycott the cup. As Champions they were compelled to enter the World Club Championship. They initially refused and were then threatened by FIFA/UEFA with expulsion from the Champions League. The choice was then compete and get a cup bye or play a 3rd round cup tie and get kicked out the CL!

Testament that Albion fans have fallen out with the FA Cup was borne out when yesterday I got 2 tickets for the game after they went on general sale. It's possibly the only away game I'll get to this season.

They should give the winner an automatic berth in the champions league and the runner up the back up place if the winner qualifies through league position. That might make people a bit more interested.

Thanks for that....it was a while back but I just remember it was like a torpedo to the competition at the time. I'm sure it will be a good question in years to come. Which team never defended the cup they won.
    Cheers...

Chris Brunt should put out a full strength side as he wont be manager after that match so why not try and get us through ? (unless of course he is instructed otherwise).

The FA cup has never had as much publicity as it does nowadays, so many matches shown on the terrestrial channels that everyone can watch.
Hopefully we're in the hat for the next round :-)

It wasn’t really that long ago when the suggestion that Bournemouth would be above us in the leagues and overwhelming favourites to beat us in the Cup would have been absurd! How times have changed!

Wife has offered to share the driving tomorrow and drive back so I can have a drink. I knew I married her for a reason. Meeting up with a mate from Weymouth. Any suggestions as to where to meet up?
