    They certainly contributed, but they didn't win them. In fact both were turned toward the 'good guys' before they got involved.

    In both wars we would have struggled to win them without the assistance of the American forces.

    I'd say turned losing position into winning position but the UK had to bankrupt itself in doing so........we just finished paying about 10 years ago and brought about any thought of keeping any form of empire........ basically ****ed for saving the world a pretty thankless world in all honesty.

    Not really read any clever devil's trying to imagine where we might be had we done a deal with Hitler and sued for peace. Not my area of interest but surely there will be some academic who thought about it.

    It seems very wrong to even think about a what if, like this.

    Why?.....never wrong to think.

    We come to dodgee peace agreements all the time.....IRA....a guid example of dealing with evil.
