Yet you and many others were quick to blame maynard for the demise that had started 9 or 10 games before his arrival and was down to lack of foresight on the part of Williams and/or Montague, as you now point out. Hypocrite.

He was not really found out until he actually had some defending to do. He didn't have to do any the season we went up. As we steam rollered so many teams.

Except Sod's Law says he will be faultless against us and score the winning goal!

I suspect there was loyalty on the part of Williams, and possibly Montague, to the players that got us promoted. Unfortunately, we were found out defensively, not helped by the insistence of playing three at the back with two wing backs encouraged to push forward.
    Those issues have now addressed.

It was a bad ball to him in the first place...

I posted this earlier on the ex-Notts player signs of Fred. It was a really poor bit of football.

Whenever Cameron makes a mistake it is never his fault.

Like many of the Notts players that were in the promotion wining team I don't want to be too critical, that season will be etched in memories of many a young Notts fan who have never seen us win at Wembley before (especially my two boys). Clearly playing as a left sided defender in the football league is beyond him. I think he is better suited as a left sided midfielder or in the NL. The step up was too much for him as a defender.

Despite the clear falling out with the club I wish him well.

I get that, but to think last season we had players like Cameron, Rawlinson, and Brindley at the back, with either Stone or Slocombe behind - no wonder we didn't get promoted. That's about as NL as it gets.

So good to have proper defenders and a proper keeper at the club now. The likes of Platt and Bedeau are a completely different breed.

That clip sums Cameron up. Not only does he stand there totally unprepared to receive the ball and then fails to control it, but also the way he sort of jogs back behind the striker and puts zero pressure on him.

No one thought we?d let 85 goals in tbf. I didn?t think they were terrible defenders at the time and I don?t think many did on here, as you say a combination of not quite being up to it and high WBs left us extremely exposed.

I think Palmer getting injured was a major factor too. While he's not exactly a ball-winner, he's played a pivotal role in us keeping the ball and starving the opposition of possession, more so under LW than now. The whole thing fell apart with him out of the team, and the back three were even more exposed. It was a perfect storm for defensive awfulness!

I did, we had Cameron who's general positioning was always dreadful and Rawlinson who was so slow at running he wouldn't be able to keep up with my grandad who's been dead for years. They were never ever going to get us promoted! Plus why on earth did they pick Cameron to be captain god only knows
