Thread: Nightmare day

Well, I only managed to see a part of the game - and nothing of extra time.
I thought we were very unlucky not to win it. Yes, Isak was clearly offside, but situations like that are so split second. Schar's strike was wonderful, and surely millimetres away from being the winning goal. Either of those counting, and I think we'd have won.
The huge thing was the sending off of Gordon. At this level you just cannot let players get under your skin to that degree. To do that was beyond unprofessional, it was irresponsible in its repercussions for the whole team and, worse, the whole season.

I would like to know how ? smaller clubs? such as Bournemouth,Brighton can produce teams full of players who can outrun, outpass, outplay ours, players we?ve never heard of coming off their bench and outperforming our so called stars. Is it their scouting system, coaching, back room staff, club philosophy and mentality? Whatever it is it?s working far better than ours ,and I?m sick of it!

I think their team is technically better than ours. We have strong athletic players whereas theirs are better (quicker) passers and press more effectively than ours. They also have platers generally with better acceleration and pace.

They have been building for years. We had Ashley. While I usually dont like blaming the past for the present, PSR has meant that the problem caused by his chronic lack of investment cannot be fixed quickly.

We should feel lucky we are doing so well, all things considered. Look how much Everton and Wolves have spent and see where they are. We have bought very well so far but havent been allowed to spend enough.

It doesn't help that the rules force us to sell talent in areas of need to balance the books. I am looking at their RW goalscorer yesterday and Anderson pulling up trees at Forest this season.

I would approach Brighton to buy him back at double what they paid us. This lad is a talent. Look at his numbers this season. I'd also be looking at Trafford and paying what they ask. I've said it before but I'd also approah Man Yoo about Yoro and Hoijland as there is a player in there EH could mould. They'd take 30 for him. They need cash.

We'd be in a strong position with those 4 for not huge money. Even better if we could unload a few squad players as well.

And if AG misses the final that right royaly fks us over but I think with Barnes, Isak and Joe available at a neutral venue we are still in a strong position to lift the cup.

I hope he puts big Joe in for Gordon in the final and a midfield of Bruno Tonali and Miley.

I think this could be Barnes' big chance to step up.

Regardless of how he's played recently, Gordon will be a huge miss in the wide open spaces on the wings at Wembley. I think we need Joelinton at his disrupting best in midfield.

However, it wouldn't surprise me if we played 3 CBs with Hall and Livramento as wingbacks, Big Joe, Bruno and Tonali in the middle and Isak plus Barnes/Willock/Murphy (if Hall and Isak are fit).

I liked the look of the team that played Arsenal second leg, we were solid, we need the same against Lpool, anything less and no hope.

    Agreed.

Would be good to see him nail that side and Gordon move onto right for a bit - I think that may have been the original plan for this season till injury and Murphy suddenly stepping up.
